Can
I still register for a class after the “start date”?
All courses are independent study and self-paced. This means you can still
register for a course after the “start date” as
long as you complete the coursework by the course deadline.
There are deadlines for each term, and these registration
deadlines can be found on the registration info page.
How often do you offer your courses?
We offer our correspondence courses year round. We will mail materials to you immediately, regardless of which semester you register for. The University of St. Thomas and SCT Continuing Education Services are flexible with their registration procedures and work completion schedules.
How does a correspondence
course work?
Correspondence or independent study courses are great for
self-motivated
learners who want to take a course without spending physical time
in a
classroom. Students enrolled in these courses do the work at their
own
pace and in their own settings. All work is sent to the instructor
when
completed in pieces or all at once. The instructor is available via
email or by phone.
Will these courses count towards a lane change?
S.C.T. Continuing Education Services partners with the University
of St. Thomas to bring you Graduate Continuing Education semester
credit courses
that
meet requirements for license renewal and may be used for lane
changes when prior approval has been obtained by the student
from his or
her district/employment personnel office.
Can I transfer these credits into a Graduate Degree program?
Any student seeking to transfer graduate continuing education
credits into a graduate program at another institution is
advised to obtain
prior approval from the academic adviser and dean at that
institution.
What if I need technical assistance during the course?
S.C.T. Continuing Education Services is dedicated to helping
you become a better educator. We are interested in your questions
and feedback, and will respond to your
inquiries within
72 hours either by providing online assistance or by telephone. Who is S.C.T. Continuing
Education Services?
The instructor for S.C.T. Conitnuing Education Services is
Tammy Berg.
Tammy Berg has been working in Central Wisconsin as School Counselor
for
11 years. She is Nationally Certified and has recently completed
a
licensure program in school administration. The courses she offers
come
from her work with students and staff members. The topics and
information explored in the courses are designed to help all teachers
in their professional development. If you have an idea
for a course that
would benefit you in your classroom, please contact her.
How do I receive a transcript from the University of St.
Thomas?
Grades are turned in regularly to the University of St.
Thomas. Once grades are turned in, St. Thomas will mail
out a
grade report
to your home.
Once you receive this grade report, you can then request
a transcript from the University of St. Thomas. If you
have a specific deadline,
please communicate your necessary completion date to
S.C.T. Continuing Education Services and we will try
to accommodate requests.

How do I sign up for a course?
Click on the Registration Info link. Print out the two forms
and mail them in with your payment. Once we
receive your registration, your materials including
texts, syllabi, and other material will be mailed to you via priority mail.
Can I turn in coursework early?
All work is graded in a timely fashion. Participants
can complete
the course in two weeks or in 14 weeks, as long
as work is submitted by the final
grading deadline.
Do you offer extensions if coursework cannot be completed by the deadlines?
Extensions can be granted. Contact the instructor for guidelines for this procedure.
